LA Winds will be assisting with the CalTech Conducting Symposium featuring Frank Ticheli and Gary Hill.

Musicians:

  • Location: CalTech in Pasadena (between Del Mar/California (north south intersection) and Wilson/Hill (east west intersection) Hameetman building (no specific address but close to Chandler dining hall @ 1300 San Pasqual St., Pasadena 91106).
    • The rehearsal room (Frautschi Hall) is located in the Hameetman Center (large white building), upstairs on the second floor.
    • You can park on Pasqual, Holliston, Hill or California and walk through. Additionally, Caltech lots are available for non-permitted parking after 5pm.
    • Look for the coffee place with red doors on the first floor of Hameetman called “The Red Door.” If you get lost, ask anyone on campus – they can tell you where The Red Door/Hameetman (image below) is located.

  • Event: Frank Ticheli and Gary Hill Conducting Symposium16 Professional, Military, Community and Educational ensemble conductors from 8 countries, including representation from the US Marine Band in Washington, Directors of Orchestra and Directors of Bands from US universities will be conducting participants.
  • Repertoire:

  • Timing: arrive at 6:30PM for 7PM start
  • More Specifics: We will actually need to tune and do introductions at 6:55 pm, so that the first conductor can start at 7 pm. They have 10 minutes each, we take a break in the middle and leave one slot for Frank Ticheli to make some general remarks.
