Celebrate our first summer concert of 2022 at the shaded outdoor picnic area of our neighborhood Elks Lodge on Osborne St. and De Soto Ave. in Canoga Park. BBQ Chicken, Ribs and all the “fixins” and a no-host beverage bar will kick off a summer-time concert featuring your LA Winds and our 584 Jazz Band. Our 10 event 2021-2022 season concludes with a stirring performance of Aaron Copland’s majestic “A Lincoln Portrait” with Richard Follett, Prof. Emeritus, Los Angeles Pierce College performing Lincoln’s moving text.  Patriotic favorites plus spirited music from Leonard Bernstein will bring our “Comeback” season to an exciting close.

Join us for your LA Winds’ first concert of what promises to be an exciting New Year as we feature some of our brightest stars: LA Winds composers Kristen Hirlinger and Lauren Keber, conductors Charles Fernandez, Michael Armstrong, Brian O’Connor and David Hernandez as well as soloists Caryn Rasmussen and Greg Anderson. We’ll bookend our multi-faceted program with two iconic works from the classic Symphonic Band repertoire: Alfred Reed’s “El Camino Real” and James Barnes’ virtuosic “Fantasy Variations on a Theme of Paganini” — both conducted by Maestro Piazza.

Summer Sounds at the Skirball Cultural Center

A celebratory “Coming Out” series of 2 concerts (3:00 pm and 6:00 pm) at this beautiful landmark venue. Limited seating with tickets priced at only $10 will make your LA Winds first live, in-person concert in over a year an event not to be missed.


Julie and Stephen’s “Summer Soirée” Fund Raiser
August 22, 2021

LA Winds Board member Julie Newman and Maestro Stephen Piazza host an intimate afternoon gathering of LA Winds Chamber musicians, our 584 Big Band and a limited number of LA Winds Patrons and Supporters. This fund raising “Soirée” will feature French cuisine, complimentary champagne, a selection of French “Vin” as well as soft drinks and desserts. Don’t miss out on the social event of the summer at the beautiful home and tennis court area of Charles and Tonya Guzelli. Bring your dancing shoes— if you’re so inclined! “Soirée” and Chamber music commence at 4:00 pm, Dinner at 5:00, Big Band concert and Dancing at 6:00.
